Name-giving attributes
If an attribute of a document type is marked as «name-giving», the value of the attribute is used as part of the document's designation in SimpleDMS.
Name-giving attributes are an alternative to classic file names. They serve to avoid double data storage. For example, the name of the issuing company of an invoice in the file name and as a list attribute.
The designation of a document thus always reflects the metadata, even if it has been changed.
If no attributes are defined as «name-giving», the filename of the file is used in the document overview.
Example
For the document shown in the screenshot, the «Receipt date» and the «Issuing company» are defined as name-giving attributes.
